Has the distinction between Cable and Telephone company become blurred?

Before you had your cable companies like Comcast, Cox, and etc and your Telephone companies like ATT, Verizon, and etc. Today it seems this distinction has become very blurred.
 
Cable Companies: Provide television, internet access, and voice telephone service. Rapes your wallet.
Phone companies: Provide television, internet access, and voice telephone service. Rapes your wallet.
