ATI has always had nit-picky issues like this.
I for one am tired of buying their hardware to only use the hardware intensively as I do (feature-wise) and find a couple dozen bugs.... that the ATI zealots try to ignore or find some excuse for ATIs corporate failings to defend.

Just use Nvidia like I do, you'll be happier if even for this issue alone.

I cant offer any better solution, than to make a permanent switch to the company that has superior drivers.

I wouldn't mind checking if you told me what you're talking about and explained how to find out. I don't really have a clue what you're asking.

Its not a bug. Its a typo. CM said it was his mistake, and he will update the drivers.

Crusader, I have already been using an Nvidia video card since February because of this exact problem. It really sucks, though, because all these little bugs and missing features in ATI's drivers are usually such easy fixes, but they are so reluctant to implement the same feature set that Nvidia has.

As for you, tanishalfelven, it's possible that the release notes will not contain the update I am looking for, so I ask just to make sure. What's the harm in it, anyway? If you don't want to be bothered with my threads about this subject, then just ignore them. It's really that simple, believe it or not.

Fraggable: I'd like to explain right now, but it's getting late now, so maybe someone else can tell you what's up until tomorrow. ^^

While I'm certainly not going to defend ATI's most recent driver releases after 6.6, the thought that Nvidia's drivers are "superieror" and without their own share of bugs is absurd.

I myself found another bug with the 91.31's when hitting my "Pnt Scrn" key in a game. It disabled my AA...........and took a picture. Considering other Nvidia users also prefer more of the earlier 84.xx drivers in place of the 91.xx's, I think it is safe to say that both have their mishaps and we cannot expect each new driver to always be an improvement over a pre-existing one (even if that's how we feel it should be).

Even Anandtech seems more optimistic with ATI's drivers than Nvidia's due to past driver releases.

In the mean time, getting back to ATI, NVIDIA, and the PC, what have we learned after today? We still can't predict the future of PC games, drivers, or hardware, but after looking at these results and their new track records, it certainly seems like with the introduction of the X1900 and 7900 series, that ATI may be in a better position to offer more substantial performance improvements than NVIDIA. As we've seen, NVIDIA hasn't been able to work a great deal of improvements out of the NV40/G70 architecture in our tests. With the R500 being quite different from venerable R300, we're interested in seeing what sort of improvements ATI can get from their new architecture. If ATI stays ahead in the driver game, they may very well have what it takes to beat out NVIDIA in the majority of games running on the current generation architectures.
Granted, we won't really know until the current hardware ages a little more and another "Looking Back" article shows who has been doing well with drivers for this current generation. That, or ask those who've had both recent ATI and Nvidia hardware--meaning not you. (I know this might change however. I remember reading how you were interested in the upcoming (but paper launching) X1950XTX.

We all know your primary preference. Telling someone to exchange ATI bugs for Nvidia bugs doesn't help any. Good advice champ--

the display of "6.7" instead of "6.8" isn't a bug. its a simple typo. i'd rather my driver have typos than have my frame rates drop ridiculously when turning up eye candy in games.

Also, has ATI added a feature to scale the output as close to the monitor's native resolution as possible while still keeping the correct aspect ratio, like in Nvidia's drivers?

This feature doesn't work for me even on Nvidia cards. :( I think both companies need to add better scaling functionality into their drivers, especially given how common non-4:3 aspect ratios are these days.

Still, Nvidia's scaling options work better as a whole, and that is what I am sticking with for now. I don't care about any other bugs right now.

Btw - I like Nvidia's driver scaling options too - ATI has to get their @sses in gear on this issue IMO. But your asinine rants drive me bonkers. "Make a permanent switch to the company with superior drivers" !? Are you going to tell us that God told you to use only Nvidia next?

You really are a Crusader...

First of all, a 'yes' or 'no' would have sufficed for his question. He doesn't have an ATI video card and he shouldn't have to buy one to test to see if there's a feature. Release notes aren't always the most crystal clear of documents, and he had every right to ask. Coming into his thread to bash him is ridiculous. Answer or don't.

On topic, I want this feature so bad. >.< Not every monitor has scaling features and I'd like to be able to run Oblivion in widescreen on my fullscreen monitor.

Crusader is a troll.

Dude, WTH.

Let's see. Yes, I like anime. Yes, I like what's talked about on AVS Forum. I have no idea what that third website is, but it just links to one of my older Anandtech threads. I have no idea what that fourth link is, but it just stole my comment about Nvidia's new logo from DailyTech.

About the new logo, I really do like it, so no worries there.

But really, why TF are you going around looking up information about me? You never even posted in this thread before now.

EDIT: Oh, and what does "AVANI KID" mean?

EDIT 2:

I never bought any of their products, but I liked them because they made the GameCube's GPU.

LOUISSSSS said the same thing as Ackmed, and I agree with them -- calling the 6.8 drivers 6.7 is not a bug, it's a typo. It doesn't affect video output or rendering in any way.
