Has scaling been fixed in Catalyst 6.8?

I'm going to ask this with every new Catalyst release, because I have to know.

Has 1:1 (Centered Timings) been "fixed" for LCD monitors with Catalyst 6.8? I mean, have they implemented the feature like Nvidia implements the feature?

Also, has ATI added a feature to scale the output as close to the monitor's native resolution as possible while still keeping the correct aspect ratio, like in Nvidia's drivers?

Thanks again.

If this is so important to you that you have to ask the question every month why don't you just buy an ATI card (if you don't have one) and find out for your self?

An X300 will set you back a paltry $34+$5 shipping and and X1300 will run you measly $52+$5 shipping.

If this "feature" is so important to you that you have to ask "has it been 'fixed' yet?" EVERY month" then I put it to you to buy yourself an ATI card and check it yourself.

you guys are dicks, forums ARE for asking questions and gaining knowledge, not trolling on everyone because you had a bad day.

No...he posts this exact question every time a new driver is released which is once a month. Many people don't seem to have an issue using the ATI drivers with an LCD but he seems to think until it's "like Nvidia drivers" that something is broken.

Thusly you can assume one of 2 things. 1) he's trying to be annoying and/or 2) he's a Nvidia fanboy finding something to nitpick on about ATI so he can say "well then ATI sucks I won't buy their product"

They work for me but my monitor supports scaling.

You truly are a moron. I'm not a fanboy of anything PC-related anymore (notice I said that specifically :D). Up until last year, I was in fact an ATI fanboy, but that was simply because I wasn't too knowledgeable about video cards and the like (and the GameCube uses ATI graphics :D).

I ask this question every month because this is the only reason I can never consider ATI video cards for purchase.

It would be a tremendous waste of money to buy a $50 ATI video card to test this out for myself every month. Really, Bull Dog, that was about the worst thing I've ever read on this forum, which is for asking questions and getting answers.

EDIT: Fixed minor grammatical error.

Hmmm...I really don't understand what both of you mean, but I'd appreciate it if you left this thread, as you don't seem to be helping at all. Bye-bye!

Not really, since I still need someone who has tested the drivers out to tell me for certain what's up. :p

The Dell has centered mode features in the OSD though right? This ATI issue only affects monitors without these features, where the GPU has to send the monitor a native resolution and center the image itself. At the moment, ATIs cannot do that but NVIDIAs can.

OP - do you realize that their in nothing wrong or broken with the ATI Drivers and that's it's your monitor lacking scaling features? You ask the same question every month when all you need to do is look at the Release Notes. The Release Notes list new features and fixes.

Or no. Of course ATi must and it will implement those - it's just a matter of time. And a long one it seems. And for wannabe-fanboyfighters, I already have x1800xt.

No, it isn't fixed. Actually, it looks like ATi went above and beyond to remove as many working things as they could from the 6.8s. They really should be labeled as pre alpha at best. Their much touted OGL speed improvements are more then offset by the fact that the majority of OGL games don't work at all with the new drivers. 6.8s are a solid F- and they don't fix anything with regards to LCDs.

I understand that ATI's drivers are not "broken", but I am wondering if they will ever implement the scaling features that Nvidia's drivers have.

Also, the Release Notes may not note something like this, so I ask just in case.

his not the only one that wises ATI had centered scaled output. Theres tons of lcds that do not have scaling opitions. I have a 7800gt/7900gt, (one is getting returned/sold). And want to switch to like a 1900xt, but with no centered output, I have to think twice

I know, it really sucks. It's not like it must be a hard feature to implement, so why don't they just spend a day or so doing it? It's very self-destructive for them.
