Has Renu solution been recalled?

I went to my eye doctor today for an exam and to get new contacts, she gave me the O2 Optix (anyone have any experience with these?) along with Opti-Free Replenish solution, instead of the regular Bausch and Lomb Renu stuff, because she said they've been having issues lately related to eye fungus infections. She wasn't very clear with me though on whether or not exactly it WAS the solution's fault, and whether it has actually been recalled or not.

Right now I still have a ton of Renu left over. Should I stop using it?

You should stop using the ReNu with moisturelock in it. That is the kind linked to the infections. I had O2 Optix lenses and I didn't like them at all. They were way too large compared to my older contacts and dried out faster. I have my old ones back and will continue using them until they stop making them or I have money for lasik.

I never said there was anything wrong with the lenses. I'm just not sure if I should use the rest of my Renu or not.

Do they still sell the other kind of Renu without MoistureLoc? That's what I've used ever since I had contacts.

I hope they at least keep it around - I already have to find some other sort of cleaner since CibaVision took Miraflow off the market. Using Miraflow every night and a soak in the Renu stuff, my contact lenses felt great every time I put them in

Ditto, that's what I'm debating keeping around.

hmm...this might explain the irritation in my when i was using Renu w/ moistureloc for awhile (on a recommendation from someone here maybe. THANKS GUYS! 😉 <-blind left eye, not a wink 😉 <-ok, that's a wink).

i always used optifree (usually green label, but sometimes orange when i was cheap). switched to renu for awhile and they felt great until the irritation. at first i just thought it was my contacts were 2+ years old. i jumped ship to Complete and feel ok again.

The ONLY product from B&L that is being pulled by most stores is the Renu with MoistureLoc with the exception to walgreens pulling all Renu branded products

of the 102 cases they reported, 101 used Renu with MoistureLoc

So if you're that specific product, stop.

use the renu multipurpose solution. they have several under the "renu" brand. its is just the one with MoistureLoc that has been voluntarily pulled from shelves and bausch and lomb stopped shipping. Or you can switched to another manufacturer.

Or if you totally freaked out, take out contacts, and use glasses.

Walgreen Co., the No. 1 U.S. drugstore chain, has told its stores to pull all ReNu products from its shelves, not just the MoistureLoc product that has come under fire, while Wal-Mart and other stores are only removing MoistureLoc, the companies said on Wednesday.

So I guess since I've been using it for 4+ years and since I don't have the MoistureLoc stuff I'll finish off the bottle I have. After all this stuff is expensive. After that I guess I'll switch to the Opti-Free the doctor gave me.

Now I just hope I like these O2 Optix. Even though my eyes do feel a bit drier, I don't want to go back to my old ones just since they're a 4-year old design, I *should* be using something newer like these.

Left eye's -4.00 and right eye's -4.25, is that really bad?

actually, of the 109 cases, 26 out of 30 interviewed so far reported using renu, not 101.

and given 109 cases out of 20-30 million contact lens wearers, the risk is very small.....but doesn't hurt to play it safe and discontinue using renu with mostureloc until the investigation is complete.
