Has product placement in a TV show or movie influenced a purchase?

Recently, I purchased an Dell Axim x5. I've researched a decent amount to settle on the fact that this PDA is great and works extremely well.
Sadly I hate to admit, but an additional selling point I considered was the Axim's appearance on Alias a couple times.
Probably the first time that a product placement actually influenced a purchase.

I don't believe it has but some commercials have definitely worked. I might be sitting around and watching a commercial about Taco Bell's Southwest Steak Bowl and then have an irresistable urge to eat at the Bell that night. Has happened with other products, mostly food.

I have wanted a Ford GT40 after seeing one in the movie "A Man and a Woman" when I was a kid.

I don't think so. I sit here with my cool, refreshing Diet Pepsi? and delicous Taco Bell? taco which I purchased without any external influence. They're sooo tasty....
