Thats the thing...its the future...but is it the now? :p Why should I pay top dollar for something that'll need in the future, when I can wait until then and buy it for way less.

Computers and games are really my only hobby (that costs any non-negliable amount of money) so I don't feel to guilty buying a card for $175 every once and awhile....but I still like to buy everything cheap. Its been hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that you gotta spend the most money on the video card and THEN everything else though.

People spend $500 on a video card? Jebus, that's twice as much as my computer cost!

I stick to $200 for a CPU, $250 for a video card, $120 for a motherboard.
Considering that the X1800gto is supposed to go for $250 and the other cards currently at that price point, I think you can get a significantly better card for 20% more. And thats my point, I think nvidia is going to get people to reach a little farther than they normally do and pay a little more to get a high end video card that is just a little more than they are used to paying, but getting a much better card than they are used to getting at the same time.

$300 MSRP and <=$250 with a hot deal is my idea price area. So yeah, they got it right.

Nearly like me:

CPU £180-£200
Graphics card £120-150 (AGP 6800NU £115 BARGAIN)
Mobo £150

:)

Hell no I'm not spending £300 on a graphics card! I can wait and get a few gens back and save LOADS of £££.

I'm still hurting from buying the GeForce 3 at launch (Visiontek, EBGames, $399.99)

"Better than a PS2" I kept telling myself. Before that I bought the Voodoo3 3000 at launch but I got a steal (I think it was $179.99). Now I've got two 7800GTs in SLI, a 6600GT, a mobility X1400, an unlocked 6800 and a few locked ones. Oh, and a GeForce2 GTS-V and GeForce4 Ti4200 AGP8x
