hi.
i have a netgear router/wireless ap and lately what has been happening is my internet connection has just stopped working. a reset of the router and the modem will get it working again but it just randomly drops out.. like it might drop out within 5 minutes of resetting it and other times it might last a whole day..

when this happens, i am unable to browse to the gateway address, that is 192.168.0.1, it just says page cannot be found

does this sound like the router? i dont think its my internet connection dieing because the fact that i cant view the 192.168.0.1 page makes me think its the router

any help please thanks

What model was it? Has there been any changes lately to the setup like the router on another power supply/outlet? How old is it? For the cost I would just go out and buy another router.

Yeah, that definitely sounds like a router 'issue'. But just because it has to do with your router doesn't mean to toss it quite yet.

When this happens, try resetting only the router and leaving the modem. After the router reboots, does everything work again?

And like bluestrobe was asking, have you changed anything in your setup?
Have you noticed any patterns, like downloading from a certain website, or having certain apps running when it goes down?

..ok i had written this post and what do ya know.. i click reply to topic and it comes up saying the page cannot be found---> the router had screwed up again! only 5 minutes after resetting it

but basically there is no pattern to its stuffups, if i restart the router but leave the modem on, the connection does come back so i dont think its a modem issue, and no settings have been changed, we barely touch the router

any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)
