Newegg says the price is $125. That does sound about right. I don't think this processor was ever available for $100.

If $22 matters, you should have been looking at AMD to begin with. For the money, an AII X3 or AII X4 will be superior, and slightly cheaper, and then the Phenom IIs will be a tad more, but still superior bang and bang/buck than any C2D.

the 7500 is still $89 at mc last time i looked. but i wouldnt get that chip anyway. if you want 775, which i dont know why you would, you should wait until the end of august when they release the pentium 6800 which is a 3.3 ghz chip for $80. i believe this chip also has sse3 as well. its definitely preferable to the 7500 imo

I don't know why you would buy any $100+ dual core when you can get X3/X4 processors with nearly as good single thread performance and superior threaded performance(including a number of newer games) for under $100.

The e7500 seems like terrible value for the money tbh. For 125$ you could get a higher clocked i3, an Athlon II X4 or an Athlon II X3 + MB.

Still it's better than paying $150 for the e7600 =)

just guy a used one on ebay, it's probably not made no more thus the price increase. I think I sold my e7200 for like 80 bucks on ebay. you probably get a e7xxx for less than 100 used.

um, intel has had sse3 since 2004. I think we're on sse4.2 right now, having gone through ssse3, sse4.1, and for amd sse4a along the way.

You can get a Phenom II X3 720 OEM and $20 heatsink. Much better alternative to the E7500. Or depending on your workload get an Athlon II X4.

Actually, seeing as that processor is likely not being produced any more - having been replaced by i3/i5 - I would opine it's that the e/re~tailers running low on stock and bumping the price accordingly.

yeah, that cpu is entirely for the guy who wants a mid-life cpu upgrade before doing an entire rig rebuild in a year or two. of course, that begs the question of "what is he upgrading FROM"??? nobody should use that cpu for a new build these days.

If someone wanted to upgrade their 775 socket and IF that person wants to stay dual core, I would suggest the E8xxx series. Can be found for about the same money if you look good.

yeah i noticed some guy was selling the 8500 with stock heatsink at amazon used for 120 a few days ago. it probably sold by now, but if you wait a little while you can find another deal. or for 100-120 you could get a brand new core i3 that is pretty competitive with amds best quad core phenoms, assuming you dont mind getting a new board and memory. a few days ago new egg was selling msi boards for 55 AR. theyre sold out right now but a lot of times they bring those deals back when they get more stock
