has Hot Jobs gone down hill?

QueBert

I use to use hotjobs to look for work, I hopped back on there this weekend and uploaded a new resume and made it searachable, same as my old account on there. Today I check my email and I have 5 emails from companies who claim they saw my resume and want to interview me. But the jobs aren't close to reflecting my resume skills. Before when I was using Hotjobs I never had this problem

Does anyone on here who use Hotjobs have this problem? I'm just thinking about making my resume private again because I don't even know if any legit companies actually search, I'm guessing many don't though.

I don't think many companies search. I've been using HotJobs & Monster to find company listings that have open positions listed then hit the company websites. Making my resume searchable seems to be spamtastic so I rarely do it.

I'm definately open to more suggestions.

if you're looking for IT / engineering..

dice.com FTW

Monster owns Dice no? I tried to sign up for Dice and it said I was already a user of another site they are linked with, I believe it was my monster login. Seemed to be the same listings with the exception of some really high level IT positions I'm not qualified for. I like Dice though

All the jobs that have been contacting me have been IT and tech support jobs. WTF??? I graduated with an EE! I find that you have to look for the jobs and you cnnot rely on people looking for you.

Personally, I like careerbuilder better.

Glad I am in IT, I posted my resume to see what's out there and day or two day later, I would get a couple of calls every week. Most of them are recruiters though.

Hotjobs.com has a lot of spam ads that are people phishing for you to give them money. And the stupid site doesn't have any way to report a job ad as being inappropriate.

I use careerbuilder and get a ton more hits on my resume and find a ton more applicable jobs.
