and no i do not believe that God talks to people audibly, or through "feelings," or miracles, or any of that nonsense.

Then you can't really call yourself a Christian.

Exactly...

Guess the bible can be just thrown out.

Still this thread is funny as hell.

BTW, god told me to write that.
cheers ;)

You must be new here....

Listen, for the sake of debate... I have to wonder, were those who actually claim to have spoken to God schizophrenic? I believe in God. I truly do.

If you live with cats you won't need a god. They'll tell you what to do and how to be a good slave; you won't feel a need to make up a master.

Probably most of them [edit: probably most of them were insane or attempting attention...multiple personalities I don't know]. However; the bible is supposedly the word of God...so YMMV.

Do you mean by a burning bush or a booming voice in the sky? No.

But a sudden and random "impression" felt in my heart that inclinded/willed me to do a certain thing for a person that truly made a different in his/her life and in mine? Yes.

How God "speaks" is as different as each and every person.

Even though I'm not religious, I know some people perceive events in their lives as signs from God and act upon them. Most of the time I have no complaints with that.

But God speaks to her, literally. She described his voice as mid 30s (how she pinpointed age, I do not know). She talked back and they had a conversation.

I voted no.

To the 20 who voted yes so far, tell us about your experience.

While I believe in a god, and a savior, I believe that "religion" is a farce and a hoax concocted by corrupt men who prey on people's doubts and fears.

I voted yes. I was an atheist a few years ago. I had a dream that was so incredibly vivid it gives me chills thinking about it. That's all I care to say.

God has never spoken to me, but once I made a wisecrack about a religious bumper sticker and I broke my leg within the hour.

Always made me wonder

Some people might consider something crazy (miracle-like) happening in their lives as God communicating with them.

As far as God calling you up on the phone and shooting the breeze with you, or tapping you on the shoulder and giving you some tips on how to take out the mortar crews in COD:2, well... come on now...

I am spiritual. I believe in the indivisible divinity of the entire universe. In monkey-boy terms, God created the universe, so how could any part of it not be divine.

But I do not believe in the primitive dog and pony show explanations of the divine. And so, I do not believe in a corporeal other, a Joe God, some male with a beard.

Physics is poised to delve into just how weird and hard to explain in our everyday language physical reality is. I mean, 14 dimensions? Quantum mechanics?

And so it is with the primitive state of our understanding of divinity.

Your friend seems on the brink of a psychotic episode, she should be firmly and persistently persuaded to seek professional help.
