About 3 months.

Personally, I think it's worth it. I use AIM probably as much as any other program, including a web browser and e-mail clients. The functionality provided by DeadAIM is so extensive, and I bet $4.99 barely covers his operating and developoment costs.

Well, there was about 2 months ago when he first released a 'pay' version. I'm guessing he probably took it down as a lot of the people visiting his site now weren't visiting it during the 'free' days of deadAIM. If he was writing that it it used to be free, people might hunt down older versions of it that have about 90% of the functionality at 0% of the cost.

I was never aware that AIM+ had spyware. Been using AIM+ and Adaware for quite a while now.

AIM+ never had spyware in that it didn't send personal info - it just sent your machine stats (OS, AIM versoin, AIM+ version), to the AIM+ server.

plus, there was an option to turn that off, so no, it wouldn't be spyware.

damn .. i lost my setup.exe to the older DeadAIM (right before it went pay). I installed the newer one and ended up not working quite well with my old version of AIM. Alas, after a few months away from AIM+, i have returned.

AIM+ = EXCELLENT!

Google it. 3.2.1 is everywhere. Free 4.0 is if you know where to look.

so would ya'lls all recommend Deadaim?

I recommend Dead Aim. I love the automatic message logging most of all.
And the ability to rename buddies. That way your buddy list shows "Bob" instead of "crzyjetzfan929481" or whatever. :p Tabbed conversations are great too - that way I don't have a thousand IM windows open.
