Wouldn't they have to keep the water at more or less exactly 98.6 degrees to keep him from getting hyper- or hypothermic?

The water is at 98 degrees. If you don't actually think he's in there, you should watch the CNN video.

The 9 minute breath holding is another story though.

yeah. When I was 11 and went to summer camp for the first time, the latrines were so nasty, I didn't crap for a week. When I got home after the 3 hour car ride, I literally had to run for the can. To this day I don't know how I managed it.

I had the exact same experience dude...

those toilets were sooo bad... SO BAD I saved it and pooed at home

I did it when I was hospitalized for a week or so. I didn't eat too much and I was on an IV drip the whole time.
