The benefits are OUTSTANDING, but the work is horribly hard. I thought I was in pretty good shape, and unloading left my back begging for a break. Unload is expected to do about 1200-1500 packages per hour, load is a bit less, I think about 900-1200 per hour. You work a 3.5-5 hour shift, with one 10 minute break. You WILL get in shape, either that or fall over dead. UPS is a great company though, they promote from within, unless forced to look outside for specialty positions. You start at about 8.50 per hour, and can move to 9.50 in 30 days, if you can pass a sort test, to become a package sorter instead of load/unload. You leave work dripping with sweat, and dirty as you can imagine, no matter what the temp is outside. I burned through about a pair of gloves, every 3 days. Your boss will hound you like a drill instructor, if you start to drop on your package count.
