As a dumb thing to do? Yes.

I didn't say it was a good idea. I was young, depressed, and self destructive. And I did a lot of things a lot dumber than taking pills and acting stupid.

xanax is a benzo, it's a longer acting agent than say Ativan and should provide longer periods of relief. You need to follow your doctor's instructions on it's use,you also need to consult with him/her before you stop taking the drug as you'll need to be tapered off of it.

Pray tell, what?

edit: on second thought, I will mind my own on that one.

I was in college. Use your imagination.

If by "anti-anxiety" you mean "partying in college." Then yes.

But seriously. Benzo's are fun and all, but they are addictive, and definitely no joke for the long term. I am not a big fan of their use as a prolonged anti-anxiety medication.

The daughter of Jeb Bush got addicted to them and was arrested for writing a doctor's scrip for a big ass bottle.

Well, glad you asked.

I am currently prescribed xanax. I do not eat it. Benzos are the worst thing in the world to be addicted too.

http://www.benzo.org.uk/

Take a look-see at the withdrawl schedule. its like 1 1/2 months. It is not a long term fix for anxiety either, only temp. One of my best friends from my youth got addicted and was taking like 40mg a day. (yes, that is about 20 quadbars) I have seen him down 20 at once. Worse site ever. He compltly changed.

It really just chills you out. And erases your memory. It just puts me to sleep, due to the fact that i never developed a tolernece. Combine that with alchohol and you are guarnteed to not wake up with any friends.

If you have had no experinces with addictive/recreational drugs, this is a hellofa drug to start out on.

for people who's daily functioning is put to a halt by panic attacks, the drug can be a lifesaver.

I use Paxil for some of the same symptoms and it took 2-3 weeks before it started taking effect.

Works fast. 15min or so. No real side-effects other than it can be addicting in long term use. You should see a psychiatrist ( if not already ) and work with him/her on other medications that you can take in the long term if needed.
