has anyone used their ATI X800P with a camcorder?

Hi
Just wondering, I recently got a DVD burner and I would like to input some of my daughters home movies onto my computer (hey! I'm new with this video stuff, I'm an old gamer :D )

I'm guessing all I have to do is buy a S-Video cable that would fit from her camera to my ATI X800P card.

Also, for those who do this type of thing do I have to have special software for this too? I have all sorts of photo editing tools since I am into digicams. But I exclusively use JASC PS 8.0.

Thanks,
CA

only some cards have video-in. I think most will not. S-video out port won't allow you to run video into it.

If your daughter's camcorder is miniDV or Digital 8 format, then the "capture" is typically done through a Firewire port. If not, then you video card must have a "Video in" port, which only AIW or VIVO models of ATI cards have. You need more information about the camcorder before you can determine anything.

Hmm, small dilemma here.

My dad's camcorder only has composite outs, and I can't find any adaptor whatsoever that came with the x800 or the Audigy 2 ZS that allows for audio-in. Guess I might need to go out and get an adaptor of some kind?

I DO however have an old set of composite with s-video-ins that came with my older All-In-Wonder, although sound is liked up by another cable that goes to the sound card. We all know though that the x800 only has one set of those 9-pin connector thingys, so even then the sound can't be linked up - I could be wrong though.

Suggestions?

Surely the audigy has analog audio line-in? Just get an RCA>mini pin adaptor. X800P VIVO isn't an audio capture device.

If you want to capture Video, get Firewire. Then, use Adobe Premiere Pro to Edit.

Yeah, might just do that. Thanks.
