Hello, all. I'm just curious if anyone has used this motherboard? I am looking at getting the Intel D850GBAL motherboard, retail boxed. It seems very nice. I don't overclock, so that's no big problem. I plan to pop a 1.7GHz P4 in there along with (4) 128MB sticks of RIMMS and an Indigo Orb. How is the ease of setting it up? Any controller problems? Any noticable problems or possible flaws, incompatibilities?

I just don't see very many reviews on it and am very interested in this board. I like the P4T, but I see the Intel as having more features. (Despite the lack of overclocking) I figure by the time I will have to overclock a 1.7GHz CPU, I will more than likely have a new computer by then.

No flame wars, please. Just honest answers. Any suggestions as why I might want to choose a new motherboard???

I have setup a couple of these boards before. The only advice I can give is load the new P13EB bios via the DOS install program, power down, change the jumper J8C2 to enter configuration mode, setup the bios (disable the on-board sound, etc,), power down, change the jumper back, do a clean install of your operating system and then load the Promise Drivers, then the "updated" Intel INF file, Intel IDE File, and Intel LAN driver from their website, load DX 8.0a., video drivers, sound drivers, DX 8.0a again, and then your applications. Defrag and your ready to go!

i just built a p4 for a freid and i used the abit th7, not a problem at all with that board and lots of neat features too so i thought i should recomend it. the indigo orb on the other hand leaves something to be desired. i had the system running great at 1.87 here in kansas, but when i deivered it up in denver i had to back it down due to heat induced lockups at 70c. i assume it was due to the air being less dence and hence it doesnt move the heat out as well. regardless, i would want a beter cooler.

Does it come with case stickers? Like the Asus boards do? :)

Case stickers rock!

BTW, I plan to record voices/sounds that contain EAX effects, so that's why I wanted the onboard sound. It doesn't free up any IRQs by disabling it, so I have nothing to lose.

Snowman, I heard that the Abit had some problems with devices being booted/hooked up to the orange controllers? Did this affect you, or did you not have to use those controllers?
