I have it installed and it is better than any linux distro in my opinion. I'm not a unix or linux pro by any means, more of a begginer. What kernal is it actually running off of linux, unix, some hybrid? Any opinions from more experienced users using QNX? I was just curious becuase I haven't heard much about it.

I did, for about 2 days....

But only to test it as a "REALTIME Platform" never as a desktop OS or even
a server OS! I don't think its based in a Linux kernel but one never knows....

The reason you haven't heard much about it its because its a commercial
product! And its used mostly in embedded systems and industrial applications.

Now if its better than Linux or not, that's a completly different story its a form
of Unix designed for "Real Time Applications" ( last time I checked ). So it
isn't supposed to compete with linux or even windows for the desktop!

It's not based on the Linux kernel. It's based on QNX's own proprietary micro-kernel. It is a very fast OS with some nice apps. Hardware/software support is lacking though. When I first tried it I was very excited (even considered dumping Linux for it) but it's limitations become apparent rather quickly.
