I'm considering getting one, as a distributor that sells them is local to me. I know that their battery life is not that great, but I'm next to a power outlet most of the time anyway. Here's what I'm considering...
P4 1.8 Northwood 512k cache
256MB DDR
15" LCD
8x DVD/CDRW
external USB floppy (Bootable)
external battery
40GB HD
Uses SIS650 chipset (Decent 3d video, onboard enet and 56k, etc.)
Has built-in 4 USB 2.0 ports, at least one firewire port, and decent cooling. Uses heat pipes to shift heat off the processor onto a ventilation area, then has a standard heatsink+fan.
All of this for roughly $1200 after tax. Good deal? As long as the quality isn't suck on these, I think I would be happy. It's gotta be better than my Compaq Presario 1245 w/ 12" STN LCD, 500MHz K6-3+ (Only good feature) and el cheapo everything.
