I need a hotel in the Fayetteville area (or somewhere +/- an hour on I-95)..and another one between there and NH. It looks like I can get a pretty good deal on a 3 / 3.5 star hotel, but they don't say which one and that's a little bothersome. Has anyone tried it?

Wow I didn't know Hotwire did that until now. That would blow. I always look at reviews of hotels before I purchase them, and I think not knowing the name would irk me.

I say use Orbitz. You can find some coupons if you google around that may help you.

I've used it for large cities (booked hotels in both New York and Boston). I got the Copley Hotel in Boston, which while less known than the major chains, it was a normal 4-star hotel and I can't remember what I got in NYC.

Basically, if you'd be willing to use priceline for a hotel, then this is no different, except here you know a little info about the hotel vs. none at all. I was a little skeptical, when I booked the Boston hotel as I was doing it for a friend, but it turned out fine. The star ratings are obviously all relative, but if all you need is a place to sleep, then what's the difference where you stay? I'd probably priceline it just to make it even cheaper.

Hotwire is generally very good about giving you an exact area of where the hotels are.

I've purchased at least 5 hotels off Hotwire and BetterBidding is an excellent resource.
