Has anyone tried to fit a Volcano 11 or 12 on a GA-7S748 Motherboard?

Im running a Gigabyte GA-7S748 2600+ @stock w/ Valcano 8 Slim HS and my temps are 55c Idle 64c under load(prime95). This is with my case cover off.
I want to order the Volcano 12 but im not sure if it will fit since there are 2 capaciters near the socket. I want to get my temps under 40c
and this V8 aint cutting it. I posted here because theres much more readers and I need to know quickly so I can order online asap!

Thank you!
Shawn

I'm not entirely sure it should be that hot - I have an AMD 3000+ @ 42idle. Used to be a lot higher, but my old board was a POS ECS thing.
Still, made sure the heatsinks' on okay? Thermal paste? Silly questions I know, but I saw a heatsink the other day that was resting ever so slightly on the sloping edge of the socket, yet it was the right way around. Dropped the temps by about 15C :Q

Yeah I used thermal paste. I even took the HSF off and re did it thinking that might be the problem.
Still the same. 🙁

Is the heatsink actually warm? If it's cool/cold, then it's a) not doing it's job or b) the motherboard isn't reading the temperature properly. Have a look for a BIOS update.

Any which way you look at it, those temps are just plain wrong. I just went from a POS ECS L7VTM to a Leadtek K7NCR18DLM (goddamnit sort out your model numbers Leadtek), and the CPU's reading 42C idle. It was 58C idle on the other board. No change in apparent heatsink temperature when testing with highly technical tool; the back of my finger 😉
