Has anyone tried the VIVO add-in module for Elsa cards?

I just bought an Elsa Gladiac a couple of days ago and I was wondering if this was any good. For $39 it seems like a good deal. Thanks.

I posted this awhile back, but no one seems to have one..yet...If you do get one, however, let us know what you think :) I was wondering if you can hook up an older camcorder to it using a RCA jack to import video, but still not sure...

Helpless, thanks for reviving this topic from the dead. I guess I'll have to try it for myself. :)

CrimsonWolf - I might be 'aquiring' an Elsa Gladiac in a few weeks and was wondering what the 2d quality was like. I run my desktop at 1600x1200 with my Voodoo 3 currently, which is fine, but I'm concerned that this won't be feasible with the GTS. (Although I'm hardly likely to turn the card down, given that I'll be getting it for free :))

I'm afraid that the geforce cannot deliver at that high of a resolution. The only solution is to get the card modified, i know some guys that will do it. It involves the removal of some rf filters to get the 2d quality back up there. With the modifications, the 2D image quality is EQUAL to that of the Voodoo 5500. Also, these guys can modify the card to have straight bnc to bnc connectors. This will allow even better image quality. Head on over to avsforums.com for more info.

Thanks for the tip Sudheer Anne. I'm aware that the geforce cards don't hack it at higher res really, but I did hear somewhere that the Elsa card was superior to other geforces in terms of 2D...

Snow patrol: unless you own a trinitron monitor, 1600x1200 will be fine. I haven`t seen it for myself, but on monday I`m gettin a 19" monitor and i`ll see it for myself.

Snow Patrol - Considering my monitor is only a 17" NEC, I can't really stress the 2d of the card. However, what I've heard is very similar to what the above posts have said. Btw, my previous card was a V3 3k and I must say you will not be disappointed with your new aquisition.

D'oh! ;) 19" PR960F trinitron in the house ;)

As I say though, the card is free so I've not really got a problem adapting to a lower desktop resolution (hopefully 1280x1024 will be fine..). And if it's just unbarable I could sell it for a profit and get a Radeon/Voodoo 5 or something with the cash :)

I think it's a win win situation really! Thanks for the replies guys, I'll let you know how it goes.

ugh...if you are debating whether to use a geforce II or stay with your doodoo 3, clearly you should stop what you are doing, stand-up, and slowly back away from the keyboard :)

A web site in the UK mis-priced them at £0.00 but because orders under £40 they charge for delivery they took the money for for the delivery and entered into a fixed contract and as such couldnt go back on the deal:D

so... has anyone USED the module yet? Is it any good?

I might as well get the DDR card (Erazor x2) which doesn't support the module. $40 will get me a different TV tuner card, although I'd prefer VIVO.
Here in Canada, the DDR card is on sale for about the same price as the Gladiac MX but with better availability so I'm ready to go for it.
UNLESS that VIVO module is really good.... I want to do a tiny bit of video capture from time to time... No TV viewing, just the occasional movie from the VCR.

It sounds like no one has tried it.... I'd like to use it so that I others can watch video games on a TV while someone is playing it at the computer. Does anyone know if it will do both at the same time or do you have to choose between monitor or tv screen only?
