I would have though that your motherboard may need to specifically support booting from a USB device. Most older boards do not.

Is that addressed to me or "Fullmetal"? I mentioned in my first post it's a new mobo and it can boot from "USB flash/key/pen drive".

Patriot replied with this, I haven't checked it out yet:
We have a software called make bootable for our usb drives. You can find
it here on our website:

Of course, your motherboard has to support booting from USB devices, also. This feature was uncommon until the last two years or so.

This just ain't gonna work. I tried putting the MemTest USB file on it, and when booting it said "NTLDR is missing". For the hell of it I also tried the WMD ISO image file, said the same thing. Now in the BIOS, it's not even listed under Hard drives! So I even tried booting from "USB floppy", same thing. The files ARE on the USB drive, but it just won't boot.
That's normal, it works by turning the USB flash drive in to a USB floppy drive. Reformatting will get the full capacity back.

I have been there. In fact, that is my post still at the bottom of the thread. :) A replacement CD will only get me the new utility. I have the "good" program that I need installed, but it doesn't work with the new flash drive.

I came to a point that I can deal with. Despite not being able to resize the partition, I did make the 1gb Voyager bootable with Acronis, which is what I wanted to do with the 2gb. So I just switched roles, and my 2gb will now be my "booter". I e-mailed Corsair about the situation, to see if there was a way to get the program to work with the new Flash drive--they gave me an RMA number...

Well, at least if the flash drive is bad, you will get a new one ... hopefully fully functional
Also, just a note ... some folks say you can pull a Thumb Drive without going thru the
Safely Remove Hardware Icon .. I personally advocate doing it the Correct way as
there is less chance of data corruption

Well, that d'load from Patriot didn't work! I tried it and keep getting:
"Make device bootable failed: Device not found" !!

Yet, it's hooked up and otherwise working fine! When I view it
under "My Computer" it used to show up as something different
than it is now, now it's showing up as "Removable Disk (G)"
just like any other USB storage device. When I first hooked it
up, I don't remember how it was shown, but I DO remember there
was "USB 2.0" somewhere in the name.

I checked it for errors (using XP's drive error checking
through a right click), reformatted it (in just FAT like the
PDF file says to do), same thing. There are NO FILES on the
USB drive, not even hidden or "protected". The PDF file also
says "Pen Drive using Phison's solutions", under "requirements"
What does that mean? This drive must support that or have it
or Patriot would not have told me the download would make
it bootable.
