I think it would be nifty to lose about 20lbs from my current weight of 165. I would post a pic of my fat, hairy, belly but....

Ive never tried weight loss supplements before, but I spent $40 on dex-l10 from cvs. It claims to have 500mg of "dexl10-hoodia gordnoii (stem)"

I took one about an hour ago and just advertised Im feeling very full. I ate a Maruchan Instant Lunch with romein noodles just for good measure. Now I feel like Ive just finished off an AYCE buffet!

Anyway, has anyone tried Hudia?

Nope, can't say that I have. However, if you're eating less because of those weight supplement pills, shouldn't you be filling yourself up with more nutritious foods and not ramen? I had friends who have used pills like that before and they were worried that since they started losing sensations of hunger that they may be missing some signs that would indicate malnutrition.

You weigh 165 and you're using a weight loss drug to lose weight?

Ill be sure to eat well, but be satisfied with smaller portions. Ive been taking centrum, fish oil, vit c and iron for years and will continue them.

But people should be wary.

Wow! I didnt notice a small rush after eating the soup. The water from the soup must have done it. But I was thinking WTF? There was nothing on the bottle about an energy boost.

Get out and do something with that energy. You can be as skinny as you want, but if you are not working on your muscles and your heart it is kind of pointless.

There are so many useless brands of hoodia out there where they just put junk in the capsules. If you want the real stuff that works, get Hoodoba Plus or Desert Burn, they're 100% pure. If you pay less than $50, you're more than likely paying for the cactus trimmings along w/ the hoodia substance in a capsule.

Can you grow this stuff yourself?

Nope, its actually a very rare cactus like plant that grows in certain deserts in Africa. It's very partial to humidity and such.

It's also slow growing and takes about 4 years to mature.

I don't think it's bunk. Real Hoodia works. However, the stuff they sell int he US, probably majority of it is cut with other stuff. I don't think any of the stuff hs 90% Hoodia. Maybe .05% or something like that.

I forgot about this thread. ;)

UPDATE: Ive taken no more than 1 capsule per day during the week. I know I havent lost any weight and the energy surge stopped after the first few days.

One thing I have noticed is that I dont enjoy snaking at work anymore when I do. I guess it was more of a pyschological than physical desire. Normally my twice a day oreo fix would tingle my taste buds. After taking the pill in the morning, the desire is there, but the satisfaction from eating them isnt. They make me sick sometimes, like Im trying to eat after Im full, which is supposed to be the desired effect. The dosage is 2 per day, and Im taking one.

More updates to come...

My wife used Desert Burn and said that it definitely helped curb her appetite.

There are only 3 farms in Africa that harvest the hoodia plant. There are certain certifications that a company can get that proves they are using hoodia. I paid over $150 for a 3 month supply, so like Dave said if you're paying less than $50 for a month supply you are NOT getting hoodia. Do some research, there's quite a bit on the net about it.

Hoodia is not meant to give you an energy surge. It is supposed to shut off the trigger in your brain that tells you that you are hungry. It sounds like something else is in your formula that is giving you the surge, possibly yohimbe or something else.

You're eating ramen and oreos and trying to lose weight taking pills. That is just stupid. All those supplements aren't doing a measurable amount of good compared to what you could do eating a proper diet and getting some exercise.

Like I said before, all Hoodia is not pure.... in fact there are only 5-6 brands that have been confirmed to be 100%. If you don't know what you're getting into and you try to save money, you'll end up just getting a placebo product.
