I'm thinking of picking up the v35 or g7 and using google fi (my phone is nearly 4 years old and I'm thinking it might be time to upgrade). Curious if anyone has any experience with v35 of g7 or use google fi in the boston area... if so comments !

Can't speak to Google's Project Fi service, but as it's using multiple carriers to provide coverage, you probably won't be hurting for service in the Boston area.

As for the phones? They're classic LG, which is mostly a good thing. The software is a bit top-heavy, but they're fast, offer many conveniences and have quality cameras (you may appreciate the wide-angle option). The G7 in particular would be good if you're often outside on sunny days and hate squinting, since it can get particularly bright.

With that said: if you can afford to hold out a couple of months or so, it might be worth holding out until the Pixel 3 / 3 XL show up. Google is still the champion of smartphone cameras, and it's only likely to get better. That and pure Android should be both speedier and give you timelier OS updates.

Won't consider the pixel anything since it has no sd slot. I can hold out a while that isn't the problem but I figure it would either be the v35, g7, note 9, v40 or perhaps the s10.

Non google fi approved phones have problems on the service FYI. I used an iphone 7 plus for a bit on there, MMS and texting have some weird issues but the worst issue was that the service wouldn't work internationally when I took it to Australia. It didn't detect service at all over there despite Fi being supported, to me it's one of the best features of Fi but if you don't really travel internationally then it's probably not a big deal.

Yea that is one of the reason I'm intereted in FI; i don't travel a lot overseas - maybe once a year or once every other year depending on this and that but it is a convenient. Also it is getting time to upgrade since my phone no longer receives updates. I just don't love the new form factors - every phone I look at has a big negative that I don't find with my current phone. I'm leaning towards the v35 but i want to look at the g7; also rumour is very shortly the v40 will be arriving. However since the past week saw v35 @ 600 (amazon and b&h) I won't pay more than 600 for it (though a $300 credit would be acceptable). My guess is I'll have to wait till nov for the next decent deal but maybe not. I kind of want to wait for the note 9 to be release before deciding (though the note 9 is likely a huge dud) and I need to stop by somewhere to look at the g7. Note sure what the v40 will have over the v35 but rumours is a larger battery and more cameras.
