Can't speak to Google's Project Fi service, but as it's using multiple carriers to provide coverage, you probably won't be hurting for service in the Boston area.
As for the phones? They're classic LG, which is mostly a good thing. The software is a bit top-heavy, but they're fast, offer many conveniences and have quality cameras (you may appreciate the wide-angle option). The G7 in particular would be good if you're often outside on sunny days and hate squinting, since it can get particularly bright.
With that said: if you can afford to hold out a couple of months or so, it might be worth holding out until the Pixel 3 / 3 XL show up. Google is still the champion of smartphone cameras, and it's only likely to get better. That and pure Android should be both speedier and give you timelier OS updates.
