has anyone tried booting from a cd to flash bios?

this system's fdd & printer onboard connectors are dead. so the fdd is out of the question for updating its bios. would booting from a cd into dos hurt the bios flashing process? the bios files will be on the hdd though. any input will be appreciated.

it doesn't matter if you boot from floppy or cdrom, you just need a pure dos command prompt. I don't have a floppy so i booted from cdrom to flash my bios, works fine.
