There is much abuzz about this option. Has anyone tried it, and if so how did it work. I have the steps needed used by the people on what used to be called Langalist and have seen many others. Anyone care to comment??????????????????????????????????????

it works but you are supposed to upgrade from the upgrade version, clean install from the upgrade version is illegal because you are licensed to upgrade from a previous windows os only. You cannot argue this method is legal because I've confirmed it from a genuine source. You never know MS might release a patch or update that will black list your key so be careful.

There are very reputable people out there saying that this is not a mistake and to go ahead and do it. MS knows about it and is just letting it go. Once all this is installed there will be no way for them to change or patch it.

I've got legit licenses of older windows to upgrade from but I choose to do this method simply because I feel like it's closer to a clean install than a true upgrade from XP is.

Just my $0.02 worth. :)

I went with the full retail version of ultimate. The guy I'm building it for decided he just wanted the full retail version so he could transfer it to other boards or computers later if he wanted to. Didn't want to mess with any problems later I guess. He said it was only money. This is my first vista install. I hope all goes well.
