Has anyone tasted home-made mayonnaise?

[Disclaimer: this thread is about actual mayonnaise, not anything else that looks like mayonnaise]

I'm sort of curious to find out how it tastes compared to the manufactured kind. Is home-made healthier in most ways?

You can try some of my home made mayonaise. Meet me in the parked car by the mall after dark, I will let you try a sample.

I like my homemade better.

Healthwise, any mayo is pretty much just emulsified fat.

Edit: Trader Joe's mayo tastes close to my home made. Best Foods/hellman's tastes yucky and quite different. Don't know why.

Tastes good I've tried it. It's richer and has more flavour than store bought. However because of this some may not like it as they are used to having their mayo have little flavour.

I make my own all the time. Tastes good to me. Nothing else compares.

It's easy to do - try it sometime.

That's not mayo....

I wonder how long it would take to fill up a normal sized jar.

i keep trying to do it and can't. i dont know what the deal is. i've watched the youtube vids on how to do it.

I think maybe my food processor is too big? i cant get the yolks going without adding oil. The blade just flys over them.

I've made homemade. Didn't like it. I'm just too used to Hellmann's Olive oil mayo that nothing else compares.

I make it a few times a year as I like it with lobster and tiger prawns. It takes a lot of muscle to whip it by hand, and truthfully, Helmann's with a extra squirt of lemon tastes just about the same. Homemade is a bit more "eggy" tasting though.

The problem with the olive oil mayo is that it only has a small amount of olive oil. The main fats are still from soybean or canola oils.

I've tried it.

it tasted better, but not to the extent that I'd be willing to make it from scratch on a regular basis and deal with the significantly shorter shelf-life.
