has anyone taken the Network+ cert? how is it?

Well.. I took the Network Essentials MCP exam from Microsoft just for a goof.. to see how it was. It was fairly simple. It doesn't go into networking with too great detail, but it's a nice starting point because it does include a fair amount on all the typical networking standards of today. The book also mentions a good deal about network hardware, and so.. as I said before, it is a nice starting point for general learning about networking. Good luck!

well i know more then general things about networking, im a+, and mcp in win2k pro and server
so far, i thought that network+ would look good too

I've taken the Network+. Personally I found it pretty easy. I studied two different cram guides (20pages) I got from the web, and took two online practice exams. For me at least it was like taking a test about my job at the time. Since you have your A+ and MCP, study up for it and take it, it can't hurt to have it.

I took Network + and failed it last week. There were some odd questions on there that I didnt bother to study, like knowing what ping -t, -a, -n, -f and the similar commands for NBstat, and netstat. I also had aced all the online practice tests I could find but none of them prepared me for the diagram questions where you solve a network problem. Still, it is good to definitely know all the material asked here:

that will get you through 60% of the test.

I think I failed it by one question. I'll post how the retake goes on tuesday.

I took it a while ago prob 18-24 months ago, so my memory might not be 100% accurate. I found it very easy, easier than any MS test i've taken on the nt4 track. The test was fairly similar to net essentials, net+ seemed to have a little more about tcp/ip and hardware.
