Spinning is a lot of fun, depending on the leader and the music. My wife gets me to go to a class every once in a while (I prefer running), and I usually enjoy them.

It definitely seems like a great way to get in some cardio. However, $100/month seems steep to me regardless of how good the class was.

it is not just for that one particular class. you get the gym + the other 13 classes they offer....yoga, kickboxing, step, etc.

now if it was 100$ for me AND my gf i would do that for sure!

spin classes are for chicks ...

yes, but they are very good for your cardio and all around body physique and such.

really brings your endurance up. I think its better then running too, because you do not have the harshness on your joints when hitting the pavement or whatever you are running on.

I am just not sure if I can dish out 100$ a month for all of these classes and a membership to a gym.

I know - I go to NYSC and the spin classes always look full - full of chicks

I'd rather get on an elliptical and max out the resistance than plant my butt on a chair and get yelled at

$100 per month?

You sit on the bike while someone yells at you, is that the gist?
Is there music playing? Dead or Alive's classic "You spin me right 'round" sounds tailor made for that class. I like some Meat Beat Manifesto when cycling, though.

Never thought I'd see the words "meat, spin" and "you spin me right 'round" all mention in the same post without at least a chuckle.

GAH, I missed the Meatspin train, damn.

they dont yell at you...they just told us when to crank up the 'hardness' and when to turn it down, etc. So we were all going around the same speed. It actually looked funny from an outsiders standpoint.

I could just throw down 50$ a month just for the gym itself, weights, etc no classes.

No, but I ride my bike to work 2-3 days a week on average which is 10 miles one way and about 35-40 minutes ride time.

Sitting in a gym on a stationary bike is very boring to me. I'd much rather be out there on the road.

Try running on an elliptical. I had to switch from a treadmill to an elliptical because of my joints. My gym has spin classes but I've never gone to one. I have been paying $43 a month for the past 2yrs for a gym with a cardio room, weightlifting room, various classes, pool, sauna, and spa.
