Has anyone successfully softmodded a 7870 to the W7000

I've been researching soft mods as I have a display capable of 10bpp colour. I called up AMD and they told me that while my radeon card itself is capable, radeon drivers aren't. Their guy then told me that there were modded drivers available, which I can't find. I know the W7000 has double the memory, so it may not be possible...so does anyone know definitively if someone has done this successfully or that it cannot be done?
