has anyone successfully made a backup copy of final fantasy 9 US ver?

I brought final fantasy 9 yesterday & I have been trying to back it up with programs like cdrwin, clonecd & nti cd-maker 2000 pro. I tried backing it to cdrw instead of cdr just in case it didn't work i could erase it, but so far, all my imation & memorex cdrw doesn't even get detected in my psx, the cd doesn't even spin, everytime i put the original it works fine of course, then i thought it could be the cdrw, so I tried 80mins memorex cdr in the purple jewel cases & not the cheap spindle ones. The 1st 80min cdr used with clonecd froze at the ps logo screen & after that doesn't work, I tried another 80min cdr with cdrwin & it only works if you push the reset button because it always freezes at the ps logo when you 1st run it. Is it the cdr that's causing the problem, some say that the blue bottom cdr are the best for ps backups, & these 80min memorex are light yellow, strange thing is all these backup copys gets detected by bleem, but it only plays the music with a blank screen. awhile back i lost my 1st disc to final fantasy 7 & i made a backup of it from my friends 1st disc using a maxell & it worked fine, but now i'm doing the samething for ff9 but it just not as good, does the brand & color of the cdr make a big difference?
