My housemate's interested in trying this.
My reasoning is theoretically it doesnt matter, because an AP should be little more than a hub.
But what about the combo router/AP things? Is there any way to get them to "just be an AP, no routing"?
Also what about driver support for the cards. Has anyone gotten it working with the linksys WPC11's?

layer 1 != layer 2/3. you should have no problem setting this up, but things could get hairy if the AP itself can't have an IPv6 addr :)

why would the AP need an address if its just acting like a hub?

like you said, different layers, shouldt be a problem... but I was hoping to hear from someone who'd done it.

I'm not a networking guru, but my OS, SuSE Linux runs an IPv6 stack for the network interfaces, including WLAN. AP works fine in gateway router mode, I assume using IPv4.
