Has anyone set up an Epox EP-9NPA+ Ultra yet?

I just purchased the Epox 9npa+ ultra mobo from newegg and was wondering if anyone has set it up yet. If so any problems, hints, advice etc. I wont be able to get to mine until hopefully Sunday.

I sold my Athlon 2200+ with 512m/b, 8meg agp 15 gig 7200 no screen etc for $525. I bgt the new epox, 1 gig crucial, 2 80 gig sata II hitachi, 420 watt Enermax, amd 64 3500, 90nM retail and sapphire 128 radeon x300. Got all that for $850 so not a bad upgrade for$325!

I think there hasn't been much info on the Epox because they basically just came on the market in the last 10 days. Ok Thanks...

All the reviews speak well of it. It is the other board I was considering (besides the DFI). I think you should be good to go, their weren't any major problems with the 9NDA3+. I would have purchased a native 24 pin psu if I were you, like the E-Power Tagan 480 watt, but we'll see.

Set mine up a week ago, so far so good. My only issue is that BIOS PC Health, Magic Health at POST, and Epox USDM in Windows say that default Vcore is 1.5 volts for a Winchester (default is 1.4), and you can't set it lower. So if you add +0.1 volts to OC, are you actually at 1.4+0.1=1.5 or 1.5+0.1=1.6 like the BIOS indicates? I would be interested to hear if others have this problem.

Mine shipped with 9npa5124 BIOS but there is a 9npa5302 BIOS available thru Epox Magic Update, or here. 1/24 BIOS CPU temps read around 30 degrees idle, flashed to 3/02 BIOS and temps are about 10 degrees higher. Changelog said temps fixed!! Running at 270x9 with +.0.1 Vcore, temps are low 40's idle and low 50's load. Unlike some of the horror stories we've seen with other NF4 boards, this one was easy to set up and it runs nicely. Oh, one other glitch, the mouse from my Logitech Cordless Elite Duo didn't work in the PS/2 port, but works fine in USB. PS/2 port was fine with Microsoft corded and cordless mice.

Sam and Krose:

Thanks for the replies. Hopefully I'll get to the mobo tomorrow. If not early next week. The Enermax P/S I purchased is a native 24 pin. Its 420 watts, noisetaker eg425p-ve sfma v.2.0.

I'll keep an eye on those temps. Don't know which bios I have yet. Tonight I put the 8 little heatsinks that epox includes on the different MOSFETS. Maybe if you didnt do that it could be affecting your temps...regards

HI:

YES SINCE UPDATING THE BIOS TO THE 03/02/05 THRU MAGIC BIOS MY TEMPS ARE IN MID 40'S IDLE AND LOW TO MID 50'S ON LOAD....THATS ABOUT 15 DEGREE DIFFERENCE FROM OLD BIOS WHERE TEMPS WERE LOWER...REGARDS

I am getting this board! Will my Logitech MX 10000 work with the PS/2 port?

I have this mobo, and I think the BIOS is reporting the voltages incorrectly (the USDM hardware utility EPoX supplies shows the same voltages). nTune is reporting them dead on correct for my setup, so which to believe? Probably nTune. One more thing I discovered with the latest BIOS--my HTT was set to AUTO for my 3500, and it ended up as 4X according to nTune. I set it to 5X and it now shows as correct in nTune. It appears EPoX has some more fine tuning to do with the BIOS. Otherwise, though, the board is about as perfect as you can get in a non-SLI setup. BTW, I am running a MX510 USB mouse and not having any trouble, FWIW.

Have you sent EpoX an E mail about the BIOS is reporting the voltages incorrectly? If not you should so they can fix it in a new bios.

I did, Epox said it that is just an errant reading, which is BS. It also defaults to 1.5 volts with a 4000+, which is correct. It seems to be limited to the 90nm Winchesters. I hope it will be correct for the Venice/San Diegos.
