I have installed red hat linux (6.1..it was lying around), gotten my GeForce 2 MX to work by downloading XFree86 4.0.1
and now I want to tackle setting up my sound card. Does anyone have any hints, advice, experience, etc., that they can share before I attack this project? Thanks.

I've used a Yamaha OPL3-based card w/Red Hat 6.1

Just log in as root, and run sndconfig at the command line. It (usually) detects Plug-n-Pray cards. If it doesn't, or if sndconfig hangs, try manually entering your address and IRQ info (don't let sndconfig try and detect your card - just tell it what you have). It's pretty easy to get it going.
