This is an excellent made-for-tv movie by HBO Films. It starts Mos Def and Alan Rickman. It's about the true story of Dr. Vivian Thomas, a black man with no formal medical education who (in collaboration with Dr Alfred Blalock) performed the first cardiac surgery.
The movie stays true to the facts and is very well produced. Mos Def did a phenomenal job acting in it. I hope he gets more attention and recognition as he's a great actor. He's gonna be in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy movie thats in filming right now.
If you guys haven't seen the movie [Something the Lord Made] yet, you should. Its an inspiring story.
