Has anyone seen "Miracle" yet?

I'll be seeing it this weekend and I can only hope they did justice to the greatest moment in sports history.

Will be cool. Question is can I get my fiancee to go with me.

I own Youngblood on DVD (never got into Slapshot)... good movie. ¬

I felt it was good, typical feel-good stuff.

I don't have intimate knowledge of the team beyond knowing that they won, so I can't comment on inconsistencies.

yeah my friend saw it at a sneak peak, said it was good, he liked it. I doubt it could ever capture the real moment though, nothing could/can

looks like sappy hollywood hoakum to me.
they take something that in itself was terrific and make it cheesy beyond all belief.

I doubt it can capture the true excitement that the game generated around the country but I'll be seeing it anyway. I was 6 years old when that game was played and I can still remember that moment. I didn't grasp just what that game meant to most people until I saw my dad holding back tears at the end of the game. It still gives me shivers down my spine.

i want to see this. When it happened it was great. I HOPE the story captures the moment. But i am really doubtfully it will.

But i will go see it. Hope I'm not disappointed.

a staff member at my school is Edward Mantenuto. his son, Michael Mantenuto, is one of the costar hockey players.

yes, this makes me a better person for it. 😀

If you're like me, LAUST... The hockey fan in you wants to see it really badly, but the rational part of you hasn't much faith that Hollywood (Disney, in particular) can do history justice.

Ignore the "nay-sayers" and go see it. I saw it last weekend during the preview and I thought it was an overall good movie. It's well worth shelling out $8.

YMMV

🙂

Given half my family is from Lake Placid...I'm gonna have to see it, else get picked on relentlessly long-distance 🙂

Players Recall U.S. Hockey's 'Miracle'

Associated Press

Lake Placid residents witnessed a "Miracle" when three members of the 1980 Winter Olympics hockey team visited this upstate New York village.

"Miracle," which opened Friday nationwide, tells the story of the 20 players who upset the seemingly unbeatable Soviet Union 4-3, then defeated Finland to win the gold medal. Kurt Russell stars as the Cinderella team's coach, Herb Brooks.

Mike Eruzione, who scored the winning goal against the Soviets, Jack O'Callahan and Buzz Schneider attended Thursday night's screening in Lake Placid.

"I really enjoyed it as a movie fan and as someone who was there," O'Callahan said. "The movie is a real testament to what went on here."

Schneider, whose son Billy played him in the film, said memories flooded back when he stepped on the ice of the 1980 Rink in the Olympic Center for the first time since the games.

Eruzione said whenever he steps into the building he still hears the chants of "USA, USA."

Can't wait to see it with my kids.

Just saw it tonight, very good movie. Typical feel-good stuff, bust stilll a good movie. I, like most ATOTers, wasn't born yet when this happened, so it was really interesting to see it unfold.

According to the Sports Illustrated article (by the same writer who did the story on the team back in 1980), the movie was pretty true to life (with a few minor exceptions thrown in for dramatic effect - expect no less from Hollywood).

I would recommend this movie for anyone.

Just saw it, enjoyed it. Wasn't great, but was entertaining. The best hockey movie (of course, competition isn't very fierce, although Paul Newman gets novelty value) I've seen; definitely the best hockey playing, but they did get a bunch of ex-college players, so it's expected.

Russell did a great job.

I'm using it as inspiration for the game I have tomorrow night, even though I'm Canadian.

better than the Mighty Ducks!?!?!!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I saw it about a week ago, I thought it was pretty good. The "cheese" and "feel good" factors were pretty high, but I figured that was unavoidable. I'd definitely reccomend it.
