Has anyone RMAed Crucial RAM before?

Can someone who has been through Crucials RMA process before tell me what Crucial required of you in order to successfully exchange dead RAM? Their website suggests that you need Customer and Order #'s (neither of which I have), but I'm not sure whether that's really set in stone or just listed to discourage abuse of their return policy.

IOW, am I SOL or will the dead stick, original packaging and documentation be enough??

They required the original order number from the shipping documentation. I chose the ship now & then return option. They billed me the amount from the original order until I returned the stick. I don't know if they would have done it without my order number.

just call them up. they can find your order with your credit card number, your email address, or anything. if you got the stick from Newegg or a vendor, you have to go through them. and if you got it grey market: FS/T forum, et cetera, you are indeed SOL.

This is what i did, i purchased the stick off of here (anandtech forsale), so i just called them asking what i can do. They asked for my customer number and i said i don't know it because my mom ordered it. So they looked up my name blah blah, no match found, looked up my email address, nothing found. So they just said they are going to handle it as a 3rd party. I rma'd the stick by sending it to them, then got a new stick back in less then a week! Worked for me!

I have not RMAed any RAM directly myself...however, I have had a friend send some back he bought from a friend. The RAM went dead and he called up Crucial. I'm not sure what he gave them or told them because there was no receipt, customer number, order number, etc. All I know is that he had his new stick back in a flash!

I sent two PC2100 to Crucial / Micron Europe last month, that I bought a year ago, they sent new ones back in a flash,
no questions or prisoners taken. Their service is excellent. A-Ok in my book. 🙂

I just wish I could buy Samsung CTL PC2700 DDR RAM from a place with the same service and quality.
