Ok my Kenwood just died today after about 8 months, i love this cd-rom and I know that Kenwood has stopped making them because of the problems. I just wanted to know has anyone RMA'd one lately and how did it go? Did you send the drive back or they sent you a new one and you didn't have to?

Thanks,
Nore

PS: I just can't bare getting another CD-Rom, I hope they still RMA it

I RMA'd a retail bought 62x about five months ago, shortly before or after Christmas, don't remember which.

It was surprisingly easy and quick. There's an RMA email addy on their site, send a message to it and they'll give you the number, after which they require you to send in the drive and proof of purchase by trackable means.

I got mine back in about 2 to three weeks. They didn't send me a new one, just replaced the motor which had burned up in this one.

Yeah, I RMA'd my 72X because it was slow (7-11X) when it "would read". It wouldn't read the Road Runner Installation disk, and still wont. They lost the drive also. I called 1 month after sending it. I had to prove that I sent it, then they sent me a new one from Japan that took about 2 weeks to get! The replacement has the same crappy performance, and I'm out the shipping price. I just put the thing in it's original box and putting it on Ebay. Maybe someone having good luck with this drive will buy it.

Before I get any responses -yes I updated the firmware which was one of the biggest pain in the ass updates I'd ever done! Opening my PC to put it on a specific IDE channel, resetting the jumper, and then going through detailed instructions was a load of BS! I've tried all kinds of configurations. Kenwood is suck!

I RMA'd one a few months ago. I sent it back to them and within 2 weeks received my replacement drive. Though the drive was a different drive it had the same problems picking up cd's. Though this drive is fast as hell when it works it will not read 20% of the cd's I put in it. Needless to say, this was not cool, so I went out a picked up a Pioneer 16x Slot DVD. CD read problems are over now. I am going to send this one in and give them one more chance to fix the problem though.

Damn, I just love this drive though, oh well. I really don't feel like waiting 3 weeks for another so I guess I'll have to buy another one for now.

Thanks,
Nore
