Has anyone read the book "The Age of Turbulence" by Greenspan?

I only read snippets of it, but from what it seems, he's blasting the GOP pretty hard.

LA Times article.

I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil.

He also blasted them about fiscal responsibility, and how they've strayed from core conservatism, etc...

What can he possibly gain from this?

Heh, no kidding. I've heard the example used before - if Iraq's primary export was cottage cheese, no one here would have ever heard the name. It wouldn't have been an issue. From the start, the oil was a sort of scapegoat - the oil exports will pay for the reconstruction. It still hasn't come close to doing that, and I'm sure it won't buy back any of the civilians or soldiers who were killed.

Who says he needs to gain anything? People write books like this to get their word out and set the story straight. People trust him because most of the time, he's right.
