I enjoyed it but didn't think it was all to great. I guess because it was so focused on that single event, there really wasn't much drama or much of a specific story. Therefore I found the book to be fairly impersonal and distant.

You are very welcome... it only gets better!! :)

Thanks for the suggestion....I'm a sucker for war/battle books, so I'll be checking this one out.

But the important question is...were they greater than flightless Antarctic birds braving -40c weather and marching 70 miles to reach their destinations?

Haven't read that book, but I saw a special on the History Channel about the Battle of Thermopylae. You just didn't screw with the Spartans back then.

No joke. They were HARD... if you liked the special, then I think you'd really enjoy the book. :)

Actually, there's another graphic reality that this film may not portray (but is seen in Frank Miller's 300), which is that Spartans often did not wear clothing over their genitals.

HAHAHAHA

The Gates of Fire wound up in production hell and probably will never get made. The 300 movie adaptation of Frank Miller's book is greenlit and will be directed by the director of the Dawn of the Dead remake. They plan on shooting it shot-for-shot from the comic, like Sin City.

If any of ya'll want the best book on the subject, then read the original.

Herodotus' Histories.

I read Frank Miller's "300". It was pretty good.

You mean that was based on a true story! :Q:Q:Q
