Has anyone purchased Heroes Season 1 HD-DVD from Best Buy recently?

sure. well, i got season 1 as a going away gift from a friend but I already have it. i am trying to sell it here and on ebay with no luck. I am assuming that is because Best Buy is giving it away with the 360 HD-DVD player and people are hawking it on ebay.

The thing retails for $99.99 and I am only asking $50 shipped for it. Looking at fleabay they are going for about $40 + shipping or so. I dont want to ask my friend for a receipt because that just is wrong. So if anyone has a gift receipt or a recent receipt so I can exchange it for something else that would be great!

If you wait till after christmas, you should be able to exchange it for store credit without a receipt.

I just feel awkward asking. Its basically telling them you dont want their gift and want to get something else. If someone did that to me I would feel its a slap in the face and would think twice about going out of my way to get them a gift in the future.

Then return it to them and tell them you really appreciate it but you already have it. Why didn't you say something when they gave it to you?

I just figured I could sell it pretty easily. I thought heroes was a pretty popular show. I'm sorry but I am not a person that is going to hand something back to someone - that IMO is disrespectful.

I am also moving out of state for 2 months for training for my job. They are not paying for anything so I have to come up with some extra money to pay for a 2 month rental plus my mortgage here in NY.

Except being that you supposedly already own it, it's not like you don't want their gift...if anything it's a complement getting you something you would indeed get yourself.

I wouldn't be offended even if you told me you didn't like Heroes, but in this case there is not even a cause for that at all.

Did you actually get this with the XBox deal though and are now trying to return it?

That's happening a lot right now.

Giving it back = disrespectful... Definitely.

But telling him that you appreciate the gift and even more so the thought, that you already own a copy of Heroes on HD DVD and ask if he by any chance kept the gift receipt -- that shouldn't be offensive in the least and is totally acceptable.

No. I just sold my 360 HD-DVD player. I hardly used it and I really need money right now. Like I said earlier I am moving out of state for 2 months and have to pay for housing as well as my mortgage here in NY. My Wii is probably going to be next.

most likely everyone has their heroes hd-dvd now because of the 360 deal at best buy/buy.com/amazon. if that's the case, the gift receipts won't give the full retail of the set. it will show as a penny. your best chance right now of unloading that set is on ebay or craigslist.

Yep, that is what I am seeing as well. There are a ton on ebay right now. I put mine on there with a nice buy it now price. I have no idea if my friend bought it directly or got it free with an offer - have no idea and I'm not about to ask him that either.

Gift reciept should be upc coded to reflect the actual price paid at time of purchase.

I have one, but I plan to sell it in a couple weeks after the BB deal is over and the current auctions have ended.
