Has anyone played xbox on the Dell 2001fp?

I am thinking about to get an xbox and i am wondering if the picture quality is good enough to use on the 2001fp. Just curious if anyone has tried hooking the two up. Thanks.
 
It probably won't look so great through regular Composite or S-Video (480i) inputs (since you'd be scaling such a low-resolution image all the way up to 1600x1200), although it'll probably be passable at least. If you could find one of those VGA boxes cheaply, I imagine it would improve the picture a lot...

As far as I know, those adapters only work for converting DVI output on Radeon video cards into Component, so that wouldn't really be what you're looking for. I don't have much experience with playing consoles on monitors (I actually don't own one), but hopefully someone else who does, will see this thread and respond too. 🙂
 
Agreed, it looks WAY better on my CRT using a vga box than it looked on my 2001fp , havent tried it on my 2405fpw yet, but i'd expect simiar results even using the component inputs.

In other words, its doesnt even come close to the quality you get when using a vga box and crt.
I tried it on my 2001fp using s-video and the vga box, its just not a good "combo" , it looks better on a standard tv and not even close to crt/vga adapter which looks best IMO.


 
While I haven't tried this myself I hear good things about this VGA adapter from Vdigi. Maybe you could some research on this to see if Xbox games would look good on your monitor.

Heeey cool. Thanks. 60 dollars yeesh, that doesn't help the goal of trying to keep the spending to aminimum. Oh well. I'll have to see what i can do.

The vga adapter i have is the X2-VGA, its a great vga adapter for playing xbox games on your monitor.

But as mentioned above, an lcd has to scale the image so the results arent near as impressive as they are using a crt.

Now if you use a crt, then the results are outstanding!
 
Heh for fun today i hooked up my super nintendo to my 2001fp through the composit jack. Can't really tell the quality of it tooo much due to the fact that the graphics aren't that great to begin with. But it did look a bit better when i switched it to the 1:1 ratio... I will have to test the N64 when i find a controller.... I didn't buy anything past N64. which probably won't be good to test it on either...oh well =o
