Has anyone performed the low pass filter mod on their card?

I've got an Asus V7700 Geforce2 GTS and a Samsung 900 NF and was considering trying it out , Anandtech says it can improve image quality significantly .

Is that most ppl''s experience up to now ? In case you haven't seen the article describing it click HERE

Please note this mod is only useful if you're using resolutions higher than 1024x768, otherwise don't bother. But yes, with a few exceptions, lots of people have improved 2D quality at high resolutions.

I'm currently at 1280x1024 , had to set large fonts cause I found the text too blurry . At 1600 x1200 it's even worse.

I was hoping to get some first hand accounts of from ppl that have performed the mod on their card .

If you've got links to any articles or threads I'd appreciate them.

Bumping this up.. before I did the mod, I could barely run in 1280x1024 @ 85 or 100.. I was getting some really bad ghosting and text was blurry..

Did the mod, and now I can run 1280x1024 @ 85, and it looks great. A faint amount of ghosting still exists, but a lot of people accredit that to the Iiyama VM Pro 450 monitor.. but the 2D looks much better..

I'm happy I did it.. it was pretty easy..

I did the mod on a Visiontek Geforce2 GTS-V cause I was bored.

I noticed no improvements at the highest resoltutions of both a Viewsonic G790 and Sony G520 monitor.

Jaybittle - on which brand card did you see this improvement?

Green Goblin - if you try it, please post your results.

Sweet, I run on a G790 @ 1024 res or below, and I see no need to do a mod (text and everything looks fine). This is yet a further deterrent for me to do the mod and void my warantee. I need to keep my warantee because I've been noticing some odd flickering every now and then.

Sorry that I forgot to mention it.. it was a Gainward GF3.. not the golden sample, just a regular GF3...

Before the mod, I had to run 12x10 @ 75hz, but I was noticing the flicker.. so now I can run 12x10 @ 85hz, no flicker, and the text is just as sharp as it is 8x6..

Are you saying that before the mod 12x10@85 was much worse in image quality than 12x10@75?

Yes. Ghosting was much more prevalent on my 12x10@85, so much so that I had to drop the refresh rate to 75. I even bought a good, sheilded BNC cable in hopes that it would remove the ghosting. It helped, but not much. At 75hz, the ghosting was still there, but you'd really have to search for it.

After this mod, I still can't run it at 100hz, even though both the video card and monitor are rated for it. However, I can now run with pretty crisp text 12x10@85hz.

Tonight I will switch back to the SVGA cable and see if the resolution is any better than the BNC cable.

Okey.. for a quick update.. I switched back to the SVGA cable from the BNC cable, and all I have to say is.. anyone want to buy a BNC cable? The text is about 100 times sharper with the SVGA cable than with the BNC cable.... now I can run 12x10 @ 100 w/ no ghosting or anything..

awesome!
