has anyone modded the Antec SX1030 to fit 92'mm fans on the back?

just wondering if there was enough space to mod the two holes in the back to fit 92mm fans instead of the stock 80'mm.

I've been looking for a case w/ a 120' blowhole (back plate), but haven't found too many. I'm considering this mod as an option (if it even is possible), specially since I already have 2 92'mm fans.

I have 2x 92mm Panaflos (which are quieter and pump more air out than the stock 80'mm Antec fans)

I modded mine for 2 92 panflo's in and 2 out. Back took some work, but I drilled out 1 rivet and ground off a bump or 3 in the back, and cut out the punched grill, and it works GREAT. 92's are not blocked at ALL, and I didtn need a dremmel, just a pair of tin snips and a grinding bit on a drill.

nice....this looks like the case then.

hey you wouldn't happen to have any pics would ya? also, how are your output fans mounted? do you have them screwed directly onto the case? and what's the nice like compared to the stock 80'mm fans?

I was gonna take those grills off anyway, so this is sounding better than I had hoped.

was just thinking about it and looking at pics from a case with a 120'mm exhaust fan. maybe 1 120'mm will fit on the back of the the SX1030 as well. still way better than 2x 80'mm fans.

have a Dremel in hand just in case.

Thanks again!

I can take pics. They are on inside of case back wall, on outside is those little fan grills with the circles. Screw is squeezin them together. I move prolly twice the air of the antec 80;s, and its on a 12/7V switch and VERy quiet.

Yah. Just use like tin snips to snip all the way around. Then use a hacksaw to cut diagnols on the corners into the little holes. Its HARD to explain, but it worked great.

After u have 2 92's on back, you could add a 120 blowhole on top. Above the PS is a 1.2 or 2 inch gap, and u could easily fit a fan blowing out up there. Then add a 120 intake blowing onto the pci cards. Then you got 2 92's and 1 120 both In and OUT

You really don't need all that extra stuff. A good HSF and (4) 80mm fans will do you plenty in terms of cooling. I've got mine running at CPU-40C / MB-26C. Duron 750@945.

bdog:

Is it the Antec black or the Directron black? Pretty, eh?

TunaBoo: Were the front 92's tough to install? I'm guessing that you didn't use the stock fan housings? Did you use rubber grommets to mount the fans?

Thanks,

Sal

Tuna, do you live in a fridge?

18°C = 64.4°F

I dont see how that is possible without the room being set at 60°F

If it's Jet Black, then it ain't the Antec black =D.
Anyway, I tried the 4 80mm, and it's way too noisy...
The case isn't good in sealing noise...
Larger fans, moves the same amount of air at lower rpm's = less noise. =D
Thing is, the temp isn't really bad right now, but it would be fun to mod like you guys...
