It wasnt so bad in high school. I still breezed through with straight A's , but college is a whole different ballgame. I gotta get over this before it really slows me down in life.

Anyone know any tricks or resources that help get over procrastination. I've read that there are two kinds: the relaxed kind that puts things off but it doesnt realyl bother them. The second would be the anxiety type that gets all stressed but still wont just get a task over with. Im more of the later. It seems i cant control it. I lose attention and focus so easily when doing anything. I hate to sit around and do nothing, but instead i always have to take on new projects or do some more reading, or learn something new. I cant sit and focus on following one thing through. Anyone have any links, books or suggestions that might help out.

I'm 33 with the same problem. I'm working on trying to get out of the habit, but I still have a long way to go. I think if I could concentrate on getting things done sooner I would have been a millionaire years ago. Fortunately I'm still on the path to a very successful future but it's taken longer due to my procasitination issues.

Not quite. If at work it's only when I work with my department manager, even then it's still difficult.

I am the same way. In HS it wasnt so bad.. but toward the end of college it really got a bit problematic at times.

I do have one bit of advice. Set deadlines, and stick to them. Also use alarm clocks a LOT. Buy a watch with 5 + alarms and set one and link that alarm to a specific goal like "oh, I need to have one page written by time the next alarm goes off"

I have issues with procrastination that border on the silly.

Take this example:

I have a domain (just personal, not a business). It expires soon. To renew it, all I'd have to do is log onto my registar's website and enter my credit card info, and I would have it renewed. Simple as that. It'd take less than a minute. Then I'd be done.

No, this does not happen.

I procrastinate on it as best I can. I ignore the expiration notices that come to my inbox. "YOU HAVE 90 DAYS LEFT" ... "30 DAYS LEFT"... "15 DAYS LEFT TO RENEW YOUR DOMAIN, IDIOT". So here I am, 15 days to go, and I sit on it. Every few nights I remember... oh, you have to renew your domain. Then, January 1st comes along, and I have that moment of dread: did I get the 15 day notice December 10? December 20? If earlier, I'd have missed the deadline. Maybe I was still okay. My body tenses up. I now dread checking my inbox.

So, now I am procrastinating on an even simplier task: checking my inbox. Checking my fvcking inbox. Just to see when my domain expires. You couldn't have ask me to do a simplier thing, yet here I am procrastinating on it.

Finally, today, I get the nerve to check the message. The domain expires January 5th. And by the grace of God, I somehow managed to get over this stupid god damn procrastination hump and made it to my registar's website, where I renewed my domain. With three days to spare.

Phew.
