Has anyone here rented a car in Ireland before?

If so, which website/company did you book through and how much did it cost?

Right now we're looking at $600 for a 10-day car rental, picking up and dropping off at Dublin airport. Kinda steep...

Hope you'll remember to drive on the left. Also the roads right out of the airport are really busy, so I'd be a bit careful.

My dad drove when we were in England. He said that with the steering wheel on the right side, driving on the left, making left turns, etc came fairly naturally.

I rented from Dan Dooley car rentals at Dublin airport about a year ago. I think I paid around $500 for a week with the super CDW included. Ireland is one of the worst countries for driving, so most CCs and insurance policies won't cover you over there.

here is some good info on car rentals / driving Text

Yes, I have. We rented from Hertz I believe ... and it was great. It worked out to about $50 per day, and although the roads were sometimes a bit crazy, never unsafe. Driving on the left side of the road takes a little getting used to, but we had already lived in Australia for a year, so that wasn't a huge issue. We were primarily in Northern Ireland, and the area up around the Giant's causeway is gorgeous. I played golf at Royal County Down in Newcastle, and if you're a golfer, there are few more classic golf courses in the world!

Fuel is expensive, but it isn't like you're driving huge distances, and if you're smart you'll rent a smaller car anyway.

Same - Hertz - except it was a company paid trip to install a couple of tools at the Intel Fab.

Some of the roads...were very narrow...and continued to get narrower to the point of not being able to drive any further [made that mistake only once] - otherwise if you stick to the highway and main roads, you should be fine.

now I've heard from a friend that you are better off leasing a car... then returning it at the end of your trip and saying you didnt like it. Something about a 30 day return policy... can anyone verify this?

Well that sounds a tad unethical .
