Has anyone here installed the Hurd?

If so, what do you think? I've been spending the day messing around with it.
I can get the network up, and I can ping other systems, but the DNS isn't
set up.

I'm not sure what to think of it.

If you really want to mess with an experimental OS, try Atheos. At least Atheos works, and serves itself at www.atheos.cx. (The web server is running Atheos.)

At this point, the Hurd should be considered pre-Alpha. Don't waste your time on it.

Well, I'm interested in developing for it. Helping to port over programs and such.
I will check out AtheOS though, thanks.

Well, AtheOS looks ok, but I'd rather put my efforts towards the GNU OS.

Microkernels are pretty interesting. They've even gotten X to work.
