Has anyone here had to deal with GERD?

GERD is like acid reflux..but occurs all the time and can damage your esophagus.

If anyone has experience with GERD can you provide your insights into treatment and such? Specially surgical treatments. How invasive and how painful was it. What are typical success rates and such?

What about alternative methods to healing?
