Someone paid me for an item and used a wrong word to describe it, so paypal flagged my account and closed it today.

YESTERDAY, someone unrelated paid me for an item and I initiated a fund transfer to my bank. Now that today they're closing my account, they've reversed that.

Anyone have luck fighting with them?

You have to bend over if you want them to open your account back up.

Thankfully I had no money in my account when they locked mine. I just use another account..

I had an account that was closed in 99 reopened a year ago, they just didn't give me any of the money back (probably $1500.)

Somebody posted a thread here not long ago about how paypal locked his account because they thought he was his brother, who owed paypal a bunch of money. He was successful in getting it unlocked, but it was hard work convincing them.

Sellers usually get screwed. I had a buddy that got boned by an unscrupulous foreign buyer, and had $800 tied up in PP for a few months. He eventually told the guy to send the stuff back and he'd give him a full refund, otherwise drop the matter. He told the dispute department at Paypal not to do anything. The deadline for returning the items passed, and I guess Paypal then unlocked it.

I actually just went through with this about a month ago and was, amazingly, able to get them to re-instate the acct within a week. I sold an item that they automatically flagged because of the nature of it and it's possible uses. I had to submit via fax a receipt showing where I got it and that I paid for it, give a phone # of the buyer and jump through another hoop or two.

Suffice to say, the second that they reopened the acct I drained it. I have read a few sites and it is in their UA that they can suspend your acct for 180 days while investigating. Good luck trying to get it reopened.

They're screeninng subject lines and closing accounts that have any semblance of TOS violation. I'm pretty pissed since they reversed the money I had transferred to my bank yesterday.
