Has anyone here ever had pancreatitis?

By some act of god i've gotten it and haven't the slightest idea as to how long it should take for it to work itself out.


BTW, i didn't know 17 year olds could get an adult disease :(

There's two types - temporary(acute) or chronic. Temporary can last a few days to weeks.

Chronic is well...permanent.

Did you receive a formal diagnosis as to which one they though it was? Do you have a family history of it?

they didnt give me a formal diagnosis, but by what the RN said, my future with alcohol looks very non existent.


My family has had gall stones, (dad and grandmother) but i had none show up in my xrays or sonogram.

Sounds like you a genetic propensity for these types of problems. There probably isn't a "cause", it's just that your body is wired that way.

i also forgot to mention the possibility of an alsor where my esophagus meets my stomach...which happens to be right above the pancreas. could possibly be a cause i suppose.
